Profile
- Jo started riding as a young child in the Caribbean and then progressed to riding polo ponies in Hong Kong
whilst her
parents were working there. Boarding school in Somerset from the age of 11 saw Jo gain in experience, riding her own horse
in various representative events at national level. - After A levels, Jo persued her teaching qualifications at Curland Equestrian Centre in Somerset with Alison Brown and Mary Hunter. Jo then diversified into part-time secretarial work to fund her horses.
- In the late 90’s Jo set up her own livery and teaching yard which is where she is today. Her teaching has not only been located at home but also around the county.
- The yard is today based around her advanced event horse Faere Vision who has competed with great success this year in his first 4* events. All of Jo’s rides have been bought on from scratch as unruly or unbroken youngsters or started their jumping career with her.
- Jo and Faere Vision were awarded the trophy for the best first timer at Burghley 2007.
- Jo achieved a high placed 4th at Luhmuhlen 2007.
- In 2007 Jo received the Martin Whiteley trophy, awarded at the end of the season British Eventing Ball, for the rider and horse combination that has won the most points who has not yet worn the Union Jack.

What do these results mean?
Jo is one a small number of elite riders within the UK who are competing and having success at the top of the sport. Jo and her horse Faere Vision have shot up the FEI world rankings and are now currently 150th in the world. At the end of 2007 Faere Vision was ranked 20th best event horse in the UK. Jo was ranked 45th best event rider.
This year after a successful 4* debut at Luhmuhlen as well as other consistent results, Jo was short listed for the senior Great Britain eventing team for the European championships. She is also now long listed for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.
Jo is one of a very few riders to have qualified for the Beijing Olympics in 2008. The test events have been carried out and the type of horses they are looking for are small nippy horses exactly like Faere Vision who will be able to cope with the heat.
Senior squad training normally takes place throughout the winter which Jo will attend.
